The Deutscher Reporter Preis (German Reporter Award) ceremony has been held several times in the Meistersaal. The award voted for by journalists for journalists is presented for the year’s outstanding reports, interviews, essays and innovations, and exemplary texts and multimedia works are presented for discussion. It is one of journalism’s most coveted honours.
Around 300 top representatives from the media and civil society came to the Meistersaal for the 2016 ceremony. Jury members included Claus Kleber, Nikolaus Brender, Caren Miosga and Anja Rechke. Prizes were awarded in eleven categories. After the three-hour ceremony came the after-show party, and the guests celebrated until the small hours.
BESL was responsible for designing the staging for the ceremony, and for organising and running the evening. To stage the ceremony, BESL relied heavily on visual elements: Large-format projections onto screens impressively showcased the nominated journalistic works, and moved guests in a special way.
